Christian Ostrander
Head Coach

  • Begins fifth season as head coach at Jones, posting remarkable 151-64 record.
  • Guided team to second place finish in NJCAA Division II World Series in 2011.
  • 2011 Bobcats posted a 46-17 record, won the MACJC state championship and its first ever Region 23 title.
  • 2011 team shocked two-time, defending champion LSU-Eunice 6-5 and 8-7 to claim Region 23 Tournament title on May 19 at Holmes Community College.
  • Guided 2012 Bobcats to third consecutive MACJC South Division crown and fourth consecutive MACJC State Tournament appearance.
  • Led 2012 Bobcats to 31-19 record.
  • Defeated Mississippi Delta in opening round best-of-three series in 2012 state playoffs.
  • Led team to wins over Northwest (7-0), Holmes (6-1) and Northwest (11-6) in 2011 MACJC Tournament, which was hosted at JCJC’s Community Bank Park.
  • Guided Bobcats to first-ever MACJC South Division regular season title, a 38-12 record, a sweep of Northwest Mississippi Community College in the opening round of the MACJC State playoffs and the host role in the MACJC State Tournament in 2010.
  • Led 2009 Bobcats to a 36-16 record, a third-place finish in the MACJC South Division, a sweep of Northeast Mississippi Community College in the opening round of the MACJC State playoffs and a berth in the MACJC State Tournament. It was the first time for JCJC to make postseason play since winning the state title in 2002.
  • Prior to coming to JCJC, Ostrander was head coach at Gulfport High School, where he led the Admirals to the Class 5A playoffs in both seasons.
  • Served as recruiting coordinator and pitching coach at Arkansas State University from 2002-06.
  • Pitching coach, recruiting coordinator and camp coordinator at Delta State University from 1999-2002. DSU posted a 148-31 record during his three seasons at DSU, winning the Gulf South Conference West Division championship in 2000, 2001 and 2002 and the South Central Regional championship in 2001 and 2002. Delta State competed in the Division II College World Series in 2001 and 2002.
  • Received bachelor of science in education degree from Delta State in 1997 and his master’s of education in administration degree from DSU in 1999.
  • Has been a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association since 1998.
  • Native of Monroe, La. He and his wife, Amy, have two daughters, Caitlin and Allie.

Assistant Coach

  • Begins his fourth season as an assistant coach at Jones.
  • 2012 Bobcats were 31-19, won its third straight MACJC South Division title and qualified for the MACJC State Tournament for the fourth straight year.
  • Bobcats were 46-17, won the MACJC state championship, Region 23 title and finished second in the NJCAA Division II World Series in Enid, Okla., in 2011 during Kirtland’s second year with the school.
  • Bobcats were 38-12 and won the school’s first MACJC South Division title in Kirtland’s first season at Jones.
  • Came to JCJC from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he served as Director of Baseball Operations for the Golden Eagles in 2009.
  • Southern Miss won the 2009 Atlanta Regional, Gainesville Super Regional and advanced to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb., for the first time in school history.
  • He is from the Algiers area of New Orleans, La.
  • Came to Southern Miss in 2004 as a utility player and bullpen catcher. In 2006, Kirtland was involved with the Golden Eagle program as a Player Development/Baseball Operations staffer.
  • Served as a student assistant coach until he received his bachelor’s degree in sports administration with a minor in business in 2008.
  • Named Director of Baseball Operations following his graduation. - Received his master’s degree in sports management from Southern Miss after team’s 2009 CWS appearance.

Assistant Coach

  • Begins second year as assistant coach at JCJC.
  • In Patten’s first year at JCJC, Bobcats were 31-19, won its third straight MACJC South Division title and qualified for the MACJC State Tournament for the fourth straight year.
  • Came to JCJC from Gulfport High School, where he served as an assistant coach from 2008-11. Was assistant  for current JCJC head coach Christian Ostrander at Gulfport in 20
  • Graduated graduated from Cedar Hill High School in Cedar Hill, Texas, in 2000.
  • Went to Delta State University, where played for four years.
  • Statesmen compiled a 208-39 record over his playing career, earning at least 50 wins per year during that time. DSU won two Gulf South Conference championships, three South Central Regional championships, made three Division II College World Series appearances and won the national championship in 2004.
  • Three-time, first-team All-GSC selection and a two-time All-Region selection at shortstop. Listed in top 10 of all-time leaders in seven different offensive categories at Delta State.
  • Received his bachelor of science and general studies degree from DSU in 2005 and his master’s of education in 2006 from DSU.
  • Patten served as a graduate assistant in 2006 at Delta State, with the team posting a 37-17 record and winning the GSC West title. Volunteer assistant in 2007 at DSU. The team posted a 45-16 record, won the GSC West crown and made a South Central Regional appearance.
  • Coached at Gulfport for four seasons. Admirals made four straight playoff appearances while he was there and won the 2011 District 7-6A title.
  • Patten is teaching three Personal and Community Health classes at Jones. - Has a daughter, Reese.
